Privacy statement

This privacy statement applies when you use our services via the Roamler app. We process personal data carefully and transparently in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation. We would like to inform you about the way in which we handle your personal data. This privacy statement outlines why we need your personal data and what we do with it.

What data do you process?

We process personal data that you actively provide to us. This data comprises:

  1. Address details;
  2. Email address;
  3. Telephone number;
  4. Profile picture;
  5. Gender;
  6. Financial details (bank account number, bank details, payment details);
  7. Account details (password and user name).

We only process personal public service numbers where local legislation permits and/or requires this. We also collect other data that you do not actively provide to us, such as GPS locations in order to be able to show you jobs in the neighbourhood. It also includes information about the device and browser you use, and your activities within the app. We need this information to improve our app.

Why do you need this from me?

We process the personal data with which you provide us actively for multiple purposes. We use your account details of course to create an account for you. We need your other personal data to be able to contact you or have you contacted, but also, as part of our services, to show clients who you are. Moreover, we need financial data for the purpose of making payments. We can also send you a newsletter.

Who do you give my details to?

Your name and photo are accessible to clients when you take on a job. In principle, Roamler does not sell your data to third parties and only provides it if this is necessary for the performance of our agreement or in order to comply with a statutory obligation. With companies that process your data on our behalf, we enter into a data processing agreement to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. Roamler only processes your personal data within the EEA.

What about the newsletter?

We will only send you a newsletter if you have signed up for it via our website or during the registration of your Roamler account. The newsletter contains updates on Roamler. Please note that you can always unsubscribe using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter. We may also send you service messages, including security messages and legal notices. You cannot unsubscribe from these messages, because it is important that you read them.

For how long do you store my personal data?

We store your personal data for as long as you have an account with Roamler. If you deactivate your account, we will anonymise your personal data immediately. We retain the data we need to comply with statutory obligations for as long as the law dictates. If we find that you have been inactive for 13 months, we will deactivate your account and anonymise your personal data.

How do you protect my personal data?

We take all appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data as best we can. In this way, we minimise the chance that unauthorised third parties can access your data. We have taken the following measures:

  • Access to personal data is blocked by means of access security with e-mail and password/login token;
  • Connections are protected by means of SSL encryption;
  • We give staff access to the personal data strictly on a need-to-know basis;
  • We have a security management system in place and are ISO27001-certified.

What are my rights?

You have the right to inspect, correct, transfer and delete your data. In addition, you have the right to withdraw any consent for data processing. You may submit a written request to us, in which case we will ask you to enclose a partially blacked out identity document. This will tell us whether the request really came from you. In any event, please black out your passport photo, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport, passport number and personal public service number. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but in any event within four weeks. You can also change your details directly in your account. We would like to point out that you may submit complaints about the processing of your personal data to the Data Protection Authority via the website of the Data Protection Authority.
